We’ve all been waiting, haven’t we? March always feels like the toughest month. We long for spring, but it doesn’t quite feel like it’s here yet. However, with just a week left until the clocks change for summer time, longer days are just around the corner.
I have to say, March has been kind to us this year—at least here in Cambridgeshire! We’ve had plenty of sunny, warm days, some trees and flowers have already started to bloom, and it truly feels like a fresh beginning.
The Perfect Time for a Deep Clean
Spring is the perfect season for a full-on refresh—starting with a deep clean. This means everything:
- Going room by room and decluttering things that are old, broken, or unused over the past year.
- Wiping down drawers and cupboards.
- Reorganizing office space.
- Sorting through that pile of old post and documents, putting them into labeled folders with color-coded dividers.
It might feel overwhelming at first, but once it’s done, the relief is incredible.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning
I always try to use eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaning products. Whenever I can, I stick to simple vinegar, water, and a clean cloth—it works wonders! But when I want something a little extra, I love using Method or Ineos products.
- Method Wild Rhubarb smells absolutely amazing.
- Ineos Bergamot & Cedarwood has that fresh, luxurious scent that makes cleaning feel less like a chore.
Little swaps like this make a difference—not just for the environment but also for the air quality inside your home.
Spring Wardrobe Refresh
Next on the list—clothes! Here’s a simple rule: If you haven’t worn it in a year, it’s time to let it go. I know it’s easy to think, What if I’ll want to wear it again someday? But the truth is, fast fashion has flooded us with so many options that if you don’t love it now, you probably won’t later.
Here’s my approach:
- If it’s high-quality but you’re not loving it anymore, consider tailoring it or saving it for the future.
- If it’s poor quality, donate or recycle it, and try to be mindful of avoiding fast fashion when possible. Investing in good-quality pieces pays off—they last longer, look better, and simply feel nicer to wear. There’s nothing worse than cheap clothes that fall apart after a single wash (and trust me, people can tell!).
Another simple rule to follow: For every new item you buy, get rid of something old. This keeps your wardrobe neat and prevents clutter from creeping back in.
What About Sentimental Pieces?
Of course, some pieces have sentimental value. I have a few favorites that no longer fit or dresses I’ve only worn once for special occasions, and they just sit at the bottom of my wardrobe—but that’s totally fine!
Do I regret getting rid of certain things? Sure, I’ve had moments where I looked for something only to realize I had donated it. But do you know what? I can’t even remember most of those items. If they were that forgettable, they weren’t really that important.
Defining Your Style for the Season
Spring is also a great time to reassess your personal style. Has it changed? Do you want to try something new? Now’s the perfect moment to plan for that.
One of my favorite tools for inspiration is Pinterest—especially those outfit inspo collages! I save everything I like, then go through my folders to pick my favorite pieces. This helps me see how my style is evolving and ensures my new purchases actually work with what I already own.
Stay Tuned for Part 2!
That’s it for Part 1, but there’s more to come! Later this week, I’ll be sharing Part 2, where I’ll dive into even more ways to refresh your space, style, and mindset for spring. Stay tuned!
