Is health your best investment?

Health is Wealth – But What’s Real and What’s a Scam?

There’s no doubt about it—health is the real wealth. Our generation is set to live longer than any before, and we’re more invested than ever in looking and feeling our best. We spend money on skincare, wellness products, and treatments, all in the pursuit of youth and vitality.

But where do we draw the line between what truly works and what’s just another marketing gimmick?

On one side, there are natural ways to enhance our health. On the other, we have an ever-growing selection of devices and treatments promising visible results in days—some of which have apparently been used and researched for generations, yet we’re only just hearing about them. Why is that?

Supermodels swear by gua sha for their glowing skin, but we often forget that they also have access to the most advanced (and expensive) skincare, treatments, and specialists. So how do we avoid getting fooled?

The Most Important Advice? Common Sense.

This applies to every area of life, including beauty and wellness. A good night’s sleep can do more for your skin than the most luxurious moisturizer. Consistency is key—regular facial massages may improve circulation and tone, but they won’t replace Botox. A diet rich in nourishing foods, proper hydration, and avoiding unhealthy habits will have a visible impact on your skin and body.

A good-looking person is, ultimately, a healthy person. There’s no miracle behind it, just actions and the consequences of those actions.

What About All the New Trends?

I like to test things myself rather than blindly trust social media hype. Many influencers exaggerate results, often because they’re being paid to promote a product. My advice? Follow people you genuinely trust, not those who seem more interested in making money than sharing real results.

If something isn’t too expensive, try it for yourself—but remember, consistency is key. Some things take time and dedication to show results. Do your research, look beyond the marketing buzzwords, and check if there’s real science behind the claims.

And most importantly, remember that not everything works for everyone. What works wonders for one person might make little difference to another.

Things I’m Currently Trying & How They’re Working for Me

  1. Mouth taping – I’ve been doing this for over a month now. It has positively influenced my sleep routine, but I can’t deny that it feels (and looks) a little weird. If you’re curious about it, I recommend checking out The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast—Lauren talks a lot about mouth taping and has been a big advocate for it, which is actually what got me to try it.
  2. Drinking collagen – Collagen seems promising, not just because of its benefits but also because of the protein intake. I feel like it might be improving my hair and nails, but it’s still a bit too early to say for sure.
  3. Dry brushing – I’ve done this on and off for a long time. It makes my skin feel smoother, but that’s the only noticeable effect so far.
  4. Silk eye mask for sleep – Absolutely love it. It’s effortless yet makes such a difference.
  5. Butane oil for hair – I’ll try anything for hair health! I have a whole list of treatments and products I want to experiment with.
  6. Red light therapy – I’m intrigued but also a little skeptical. Part of me wants to dive in, but another part has concerns.
  7. Professional face treatments (e.g., microneedling, dermapen, etc.) – These seem great, but they’re pricey, and I never know which one to choose.
  8. Oura Ring – I love the idea, but it seems a bit unnecessary aside from sleep tracking.

Let me know your favourite wellness products and treatments and also your approach to the trends!
